Three weeks.......

This is just a quick note! I realized that it has been a few months since my last post, and I wanted to just add an update to my blog. There are only 3 weeks left until my first official show of the year, the Pelham Art Festival. It's coming up fast! I have two new paintings completed, and I'm working on 6 more!! I would love to have ten ready, but realistically I think it will be more like five!. No matter though, because the events will be coming now with at least one a month until November, so I will need fresh work on an on-going basis from this point on.
It is so exciting to start new work, and watch it evolve into a finished piece. Sometimes what I envision in my mind, and what actually ends up on the canvas are light years apart! At other times, there is very little variation at all from mind and imagination to finished work. Either way, the creative journey is exciting, frustrating at times, and always offers me a creative outlet for all the images in my imagination.
I have also held 2 Encaustic workshops here in my home that were great fun. The students that came for the day were creative and funny and it was a joy to have them in my home and teach them this exciting art form. I look forward to holding more workshops in the near future.
And now I think  I should get back to work on my paintings. I wish everyone a lovely spring, and hope that our paths cross someday soon.
If you would like information about upcoming events, there is a list of current shows/exhibits posted on this blog if you scroll down just a bit! There are a few more events that I am waiting confirmation on and then they will be added to the list as well. And please don't hesitate to contact me if you require any further information.
Thank you,
Enjoy,  Robbin

ENCAUSTIC WORKSHOPS

ENCAUSTIC WORKSHOPS
The word Encaustic literally means “to burn in”. It is the application of molten medium made from waxes and resin that have been pigmented with oil colours, and then applied and fused to a rigid surface. The end result is a beautiful piece of art that has a wonderful luminous translucency to it that will last forever. Encaustic painting techniques have been around for thousands of years.
I am offering some encaustic workshops in my home/studio. This medium is incredibly dynamic and exciting, and the possibilities are endless! In these workshops, we cover basic introduction and history about Encaustic painting. Safety issues and concerns are discussed, basic fusing techniques, and the choice and use of collage materials.
ALL supplies and materials are provided, and all 5 hour workshops are $65.00 per person

Please bring an apron (if you have one, if not, I have extras) and wear older clothes.  Also, for ventilation purposes the exhaust fans will be going, and windows are open, so it can be a little chilly at first, so bring something warm to wear if it's a cooler day.

Workshop Dates.***NEW dates Saturday, September 15th and Sunday September 16th, 2012
All workshops run from 11:00am to 4:00pm.

Another year over....

2011 is quickly coming to a close, only a few weeks left! Another year has flown by again. It has been a wonderful year of painting, and exhibits, and seeing old friends/artists, and of course meeting and making new friends. I have had the great pleasure of spending some wonderful days with very talented and kind hearted artists and gaining new perspectives and insights into myself and my artwork.

I have explored Encaustic painting this year, and have fallen in love with this medium. Acrylic is and always will be my first love, but Encaustic painting has a magical feel to it and it is such a different approach to creating a piece of work, that it offers a wonderful creative release. I have been fortunate enough to offer a few workshops in my home studio showcasing this technique and look forward to offering some more in the New Year.

I would just like to extend my sincere gratitude to all those who visited exhibits that I was part of, and to offer many thanks to all those who purchased my paintings. I am always so very grateful to have a piece of my work chosen and added to someones life, and as always, I am looking forward to another creative year with many new paintings to showcase at up-coming events.

There will be a new list of exhibits for 2012 published shortly, and I look forward to exhibiting my artwork again.

I would like to extend my heartfelt wishes to all for a very happy, healthy, prosperous, and magical New Year to come.

Peace, Robbin
